SHS Band dinner fundraiser is March 15
SALEM - The Salem Band program's annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser is slated from 4 to 8 p.m. March 15 in the cafeteria at Salem High School.
Band students in grades five to 12 will perform throughout the afternoon. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, and free for students/children with a paid adult. Pasta, sauce and meatballs will be provided by East of Chicago Pizza.
Additional donors include Salem Giant Eagle, Converse All-Steel, Diet Doc, Auto Zone, Salem Hills Golf and Country Club, Sports Connection, Papa Johns, Hunt Club Lanes, and Udder Cream. There will be raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds go to support the Salem Band program.
Amateur Radio Club will meet March 18
CANFIELD - The Western Reserve Amateur Radio Club (wrarc.net) will meet at 7 p.m. March 18 at Davidson's Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. This month's guest speaker will be Jesse Thorn, LMT, RMT who will discuss treatment of chronic pain by way of therapeutic massage.

United kindergarten registration planned
HANOVERTON - United Local's kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year will begin with a parent orientation meeting at 6 p.m. March 11 in the elementary cafeteria. This will be a brief meeting, for parents only, with information will be shared, registration packets distributed and appointments made for screenings on March 18, 19 and 20.
Children who are residents of United and who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the upcoming school year. Documents that must be presented at the screening along with the completed registration packet are a parent's driver's license or photo ID and proof of residency, the child's birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card and custody papers, if applicable. Public breakfast buffet scheduled March 22
SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. March 22 at the Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.
The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
Zentangle instruction offered at library
LEETONIA- Kathie Sabatino, a certified Zentangle instructor, is having an introductory class on the craft between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 22 at the Leetonia Community Public Library for ages 16 and older. Stop in anytime for individual instruction.
You do not need to have any artistic ability to learn this craft of making designs that can be used on cloth or paper. There is a cost of $6 to cover supplies as special pens and inks are needed. Call the library at 330-427-6635 to register.
Women of the Moose will serve breakfast

SRMC sponsoring blood drive March 12
SALEM The Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Women's Night Out tickets available
SALEM - Women's Night Out tickets will be sold through March 12. The Salem Community Center's (SCC) fifth annual Women's Night Out will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. March 19. All proceeds from this event will benefit the operation of the SCC Children's Fitness Center.
Tickets are $25 per person or a table of eight for $200. Tickets are $20 with a SilverSneaker membership available.

Business Connection luncheon is March 12
SALEM - Salem Area Chamber of Commerce's first Business Connection luncheon for 2014 begins at 11:45 a.m. March 12 at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. Featured guest speaker Kelly Darney, adult director from the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, will present "Free Training for Your Business's Employees."
Cost is $20 for Salem chamber members and $25 for potential chamber members and guests.

Children ID'ing offered at VFW Post
WASHINGTONVILLE - Free fingerprinting and photographs of your children that can be used for identification needs will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. March 22 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5532, 575 S. County Road.
The fingerprints will be conducted by the Columbiana County Sheriff's Department.

Dinner, auction benefiting Meals on Wheels
COLUMBIANA - A spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction fund raiser will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. April 5 in Pavilion 4 (Duck Pond) at Firestone Park. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carryouts are available. All proceeds benefit the Columbiana Meals on Wheels.
Sparkle customers can help the needy
SALEM - Through March 31, Sparkle Market customers will have the opportunity to Check Out Hunger and feed hungry families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Customers may tear off a $1, $5 or $10 coupon available at the register that will be added to their grocery bill. Customers may also donate non-perishable food items by placing them in the collection bin at the front of the stores.
Last year, Sparkle Markets raised $5,789 through the donation coupons, which enabled the food bank to distribute $86,835 worth of food to people right here in the Mahoning Valley. For more information on the food bank call 330-792-5522.
Bunker Hill Church to host dinner
SALEM - Bunker Hill United Methodist Church is serving a creamed chicken over biscuit dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today, or until sold out, at the church, 15096 W. Middletown Road. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and carryouts.
The Second Harvest Food distribution at the church is slated from 10 a.m. to noon March 14. Attendees are to bring containers.

'White House Weekend' is March 15-16
CANFIELD - White House Fruit Farm will present "White House Weekend" on March 15 and 16.
"For many families this weekend has become a sure sign that spring is definitely on the way," said Debbie Pifer, White House owner.
A number of Ohio food vendors will be on hand offering tasting samples. Additionally, a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, deli and bakery items and locally produced maple syrup will be featured in the 10,000 square-foot farm market on U.S. Route 62. Hours of the event are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 15 and noon to 4 p.m. March 16.
