Accident at the bypass

One person was transported to hospital following a two-vehicle accident on the bypass at the North Ellsworth Ave. intersection at 3:28 p.m. Saturday according the Perry Township police. Aubri Casey Scutt, 1280 Southeast Boulevard, Salem, was westbound and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and was struck by the southbound Jeep Cherokee vehicle operated by Jason Farley, 192 Newgarden Ave., Salem. Scutt's Chevrolet Impala was struck in the right rear and the vehicle continued westbound off the right side of the road for approximately 100 yards, coming to a rest in a ditch on the north side of the road. The Jeep, ended up in at the southwest corner in the eastbound lane. Scutt, shown being assisted by Perry Twp. firefighter Tyler Turnbull, was taken to the hospital for possible injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor. Scutt was cited for a red light violation. (Salem News photos by J.D. Creer)
