SALEM - Vivian Marie (Bates) Tullis, 79, of Salem Twp., Salem, died at 9:01 a.m. Thursday at Salem Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1934 in Salem, the daughter of the late John Glenn and Ada (Entrikin) Bates.
She was a lifelong area resident. She was employed at Leetonia Schools as a cook for 17 years. She had been a former piano teacher, church organist and a 4 H advisor.
She was a member of the St. Jacob's United Church of Christ and a 50-plus year member of the Perry Grange. She was also a former member of the Salem Township Extension Group, Democratic Women's Club and had worked for the board of elections.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, whom she married on June 22, 1952; a son, Larry R. (Diane) Tullis of Salem; a daughter, Sherry (Richard) Huston of Salem; a brother, Donald (Dottie) Bates of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Mike (Steph) Huston and Matt Huston, both of Boardman, Nathan (Mikayla) Huston of Wooster, Nikki Huston of Salem and Lance Tullis of Ohio State University, Columbus; and one great grandchild, Madison Huston of Boardman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greensien & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, with the Rev. Fred Lamb officiating. The burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday.
