Local students earn dean's list at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. -The following local residents were among the 315 students from Thiel College who were named to the fall 2013 dean's list.

Jessica Bartko of Calcutta, a junior, has been on the list five times; Taryn R. Benner of Alliance, a senior, has been on the list four times; Jessica M. Crawford of East Palestine, a senior, has been on the list three times; Jenna Marissa Mucklo of Beloit, a sophomore, has been on the list two times; and Corrie Rae Sodergren of East Palestine, a junior, has been on the list two times.

Area students on Westminster dean's list

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. Nearly 400 Westminster College students earned dean's list recognition for the fall semester. Area residents include:

Canfield: Ronald Sullivan, a senior business administration major, son of Nancy Sullivan of Poland and a graduate of Canfield High School; Trevor Crogan, a senior international business major, son of Thomas and Terri Crogan and a graduate of Canfield High School; Selena Dasari, a sophomore neuroscience major, daughter of Amar Dasari and Melissa Rocci of Shaker Heights and a graduate of Canfield High School; Nicholas Reinthaler, a senior biochemistry major, son of Joseph and Linda Reinthaler and a graduate of Canfield High School.

East Liverpool: Cody Floyd, a senior music education major, son of Daniel and Lori Floyd and a graduate of Beaver Local High School.

Lisbon: Kayla Hiscox, a sophomore early childhood/special education major, daughter of Twing and Beth Hiscox and a graduate of David Anderson High School; Lacey Pickens, a senior early childhood/special education major, daughter of Shawn and Constance Pickens and a graduate of David Anderson High School.

Local students earn dean's list at Ashland

ASHLAND The following area students were named to fall 2013 dean's list at Ashland University:

Alliance: Brian Baum, a 2011 graduate of Marlington High School, majoring in exercise science, son of Terry and Denise Baum of Alliance.

Lisbon: Tessa Rose, a 2010 graduate of David Anderson High School, majoring in marketing, daughter of Tad and Jan Rose of Lisbon.

Minerva: Jennifer Hall, a 2010 graduate of Malvern High School, majoring in business management, daughter of Ralph and Theresa Becker of Minerva.

Salem: Lindsay Barth, a 2013 graduate of Salem High School, majoring in marketing, daughter of Sam and Kim Barth of Salem.

ACH Auxiliary offering Thomas Scholarship

ALLIANCE - The Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary is now accepting applications for the Dr. James J. Thomas Scholarship. This $1,500, non renewable scholarship is awarded annually to three local high school seniors interested in entering the medical field.

Applications are currently available in the hospital gift shop or by calling 330-596-7516. Applications must be submitted along with a copy of an official high school transcript. All applications are due by March 31.

South Range will have open enrollment

BEAVER TOWNSHIP- The South Range school district will have statewide open enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year. Applications will be accepted for students in grades kindergarten through 12 and must be picked up in person at the South Range Board of Education office or downloaded on the South Range website Feb. 24 through May 2. No applications will be mailed.

In order to be considered for open enrollment completed applications must be returned in person, to the Board of Education Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The deadline for completed applications is 4 p.m. on Friday, May 2. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Do not mail applications. Any application that is mailed will not be considered. No information will be given over the telephone. Any student living in the state of Ohio and entering grades kindergarten through 12 is eligible. One application must be completed for each student.

Weingart siblings on all As dean's list

MUNCIE, Ind. - Carson Weingart and Valerie Weingart of Salem have been named to the all As dean's list at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., for the fall 2013 term.

Carson is a fourth-year student and a double major in piano performance and business. Valerie is a first-year student and a double major in voice performance and English.

Both are Whitinger Scholars at Ball State and are graduates of West Branch High School. They are the son and daughter of Scott and Shelley Weingart of Salem.
