First Friends hosting 'fly-by' carryout dinner

SALEM - The Salem First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue will host its "fly-by" carryout dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 20, until sold out.

The menu includes glazed ham loaf, cheesy potatoes, seasoned green beans, roll and homemade cake. Cost is $8. Advance reservations may be made by calling the church office at 330-332-0001.

First United Methodist serving Banquet

SALEM - The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Salem. The menu offers soup, ham and scalloped potatoes, baked corn, salad, fresh fruit and vegetables, and assorted cakes.

United Methodist Church serving dinner

LEETONIA - The Leetonia United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. will host its monthly "chicken drive-by" from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 20, or until sold out. The meal consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

EF United Methodist serving breakfast

EAST FAIRFIELD - Pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee will be served to the public from 8 to 10 a.m. March 1 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. Donations will be used for a mission trip to Moore, Okla. The church will be sending three people along with 30 others from East Liverpool UMC, Lisbon UMC and other churches in the Lisbon area.

World Day of Prayer will be observed

CANFIELD - This year's World Day of Prayer ecumenical service begins at 11 a.m. March 7 at Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St. The annual offering supports the work of World Day of Prayer USA and helps meet the needs of families in Egypt and around the world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence, and injustice.

Men from the Diocese will meet March 8

LOUISVILLE - Men from the Diocese of Youngstown will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 8 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville. Sponsored by the Catholic Men's Fellowship, this year's keynote speakers are Marcus Grodi and James Hogan. Grodi is host of the EWTN program, "The Journey Home." He is a former Presbyterian Church pastor who served in Trumbull County for a time.

Hogan is a theology teacher at Cleveland St. Ignatius High School.

Bishop George Murry is the honorary chairman and will preside at the closing Mass which begins at 4 p.m.

Spouses are invited to the communal rosary at 3:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for students and include free coffee and doughnuts during registration, free parking, lunch, snacks and admission to all talks. After March 1, tickets are $45 and $20 respectively with lunch not guaranteed. Confessions will be heard during the lunch hours.
