LISBON - Two East Liverpool men were among those sentenced by Judge Scott Washam on Thursday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

Chris Hicks, 29, Erie Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but indicated his intent to appeal his conviction before he is scheduled to report on Feb. 21.

Hicks had pleaded no contest in December to two counts of trafficking in drugs for 100 doses of heroin and 7.6 grams of marijuana in his possession with the intent to resell on Nov. 5, 2012. He had faced up to four years in prison, a five-year license suspension and a $12,500 fine.

Throughout the process, Hicks had attempted twice to have the evidence in the case suppressed.

Carl C. Payne Jr., 60, Maplewood Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to four years probation after he pleaded guilty in December to breaking and entering for going into the garage of John Farnsworth last May.

According to Assistant County Prosecutor John Gamble, Payne had been moving items around on the property of Farnsworth, his neighbor.
