COLUMBIANA - Edith Lucille Nocera, 92, formerly of Leetonia, died on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.
She was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Leetonia, a daughter of the late Dominic Gabriel and the late Agatha Cozza Gabriel.
Edith was a lifetime area resident and attended both St. Patrick's Catholic School and Leetonia High School. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Leetonia as well as St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem. Edith had worked at Ballonoff Products Inc. in Columbiana for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She enjoyed playing cards with her husband Joe and loved shopping. Mostly she enjoyed visiting with family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Joseph Nocera, whom she married on May 16, 1942, preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1996.
Edith is survived by two sons, Larry (Jean) Nocera of Salem and David (Bonnie) Nocera of New Garden. Also surviving are six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Nocera; two sisters, Carmel Gabriel and Lucia Gabriel; and seven brothers, Frank, Silvio, Emilio, John, Louis, Albert and James Gabriel.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia.
The family will again receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Leetonia with the Rev. Stephen Wassie officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Leetonia.
