SALEM - Edward A. "Cece" Saltsman Jr., 81, of Salem, died at 12:25 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at the Auburn Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born Nov. 11, 1932 in Shadyside, Ohio, a son of Edward A and Mabel (Sheppard) Saltsman.
He was a 1950 graduate of Canfield High School and before his retirement in 1993, he had been employed for 31 years as a stock cutter at Salem Label. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Independent Hose Club and loved football. He was an avid Ohio State, Mt. Union Purple Raiders and Cleveland Indians fan.
A brother, Richard Saltsman and two sisters, Ruth Crouse and Jean Martin also preceded him in death.
His wife, Carrie (McFeely) Saltsman, whom he married May 18, 1957 survives him, along with two sons, Jeffrey Saltsman of Salem and Mark (Wendy) Saltsman of Salem; a brother, Robert Saltsman of Colorado Springs, Col.; three grandchildren, Kenneth, Anne, and Alisa Saltsman; and a great-grandson, Logan Dowd.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating.
Military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard will follow services at the church. There are no calling hours. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery at a later date.
