LISBON - Iona Bricker Smith, 87, of Graham Street, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.
Mrs. Smith born Oct. 5, 1926 in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late Harry L. and Margaret (Strobel) Malone, and had lived in the Lisbon area most of her life.
She worked as a secretary, a janitor and a librarian for the Salem City Schools for over 20 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tavares, Fla., and a member of the Lisbon First United Methodist Church, where she also sang in the choir.
Her husband, Donald E. Smith, whom she married Dec. 29, 1984, preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Melvin (Carole) Bricker, Warren (Mary Beth) Bricker and James (Patti) Bricker, all of Lisbon; sisters, Margaret Altenhof of Hernado, Fla., Joyce Warrick of Lisbon, Pearl Webber of Washingtonville and Carol Sue Walker of East Liverpool; brothers, Thomas Malone of Wayland, N.Y., and Richard Malone of Alabama; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Private burial will follow at the Kemble Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
