LISBON -Columbiana County Juvenile/Probate Court Judge Thomas Baronzzi has filed his candidacy petitions with the county elections board seeking re-election this year.

Baronzzi, 51, was appointed to the position in January 2001 after Judge C. Ashley Pike was elected county Common Pleas Court judge, and he went on to win elections in 2002 and again in 2008.

A lifelong Columbiana County resident, Baronzzi graduated from Lisbon's David Anderson High School in 1980. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from Kent State in 1984 and attended law school at the University of Akron, where he received his juris doctor degree in 1987.

He began his career practicing law with his father, attorney Joseph J. Baronzzi, who had served as county prosecutor from 1972 to 1976 and retired from the practice in 1987. Thomas Baronzzi continued with a general law practice for 14 years before he was appointed to the bench by Gov. Bob Taft.

Baronzzi and his wife Missy (Cain), originally from Salem, have been married 27 years and have three adult children - Sara, Nick and Becca - along with one grandson, Alex.
