Quakers fall short in last quarter

SALEM - Salem stayed with Northeastern Buckeye Conference leader Carrollton for three quarters. Then the Warriors went on a 20-2 fourth-quarter run to pull away for a 56-32 win Wednesday.

Ali Poole scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to spark Carrollton, which leads West Branch by two games for the NBC lead.

Monica Starre had 13 of her 16 points in the opening three quarters as Carrollton took a 36-30 advantage. Savana Cowery contributed 10 poitns and Rachel Dvevine eight.

Meghan Lehwald topped Salem with eight points. Tori Jones and Julia Dundon each added seven.

Salem won the reserve game, 29-27, behind Kendra Richardson's nine points. Maddie Dunlap had 10 points for Carrollton.

Salem will play at Alliance on Saturday.
