January 1, 2014
Salem News

Sam Ricosky, 9, of Salem, reads the recipe for Mexican wedding cookies after sampling one during the Salem Historical Society's International Cookie Fest held for New Year's Eve Salem at the Dale Shaffer Research Library on South Lundy Avenue. The display featured old-style cookies to sample from a number of countries. Besides the Mexican wedding cookies, the selections included English plum pudding, Greek baklava, Quaker molasses cookies, Irish lace cookies, Scottish shortbread cookies, Hungarian Kifli, Czech cookies, Romanian holiday cookies, Spanish cookies, pizzelles from Italy and German sheet cookies. Visitors can taste the cookies again from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with donations accepted. (Salem News photo by Mary Ann Greier)
