Rep. Johnson to host coffee talk in Salem Monday
SALEM - U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson will host a casual "Christmas Coffee with Bill" event from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at his Salem office, 192 E. State St., Salem.
The Sixth District congressman described the coffee talk as a "come-and-go opportunity" for constituents to talk with him directly. No RSVP or pre-registration is required.
"I look forward to Monday's coffee in Salem," Johnson said in a press release. "This setting allows me to speak with people in a more informal and direct setting than the numerous town halls I have hosted in Columbiana County and throughout eastern and southeastern Ohio."
"I encourage folks to stop by my Salem office to share their opinions and concerns, if they need assistance with a federal agency, or simply to just say hello," he said.
CAA counselors due at Leetonia Library
LEETONIA- Certified application counselors with the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County Health Centers will be at the Leetonia Community Public Library from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 13 to help people with the online marketplace.
County Genealogical Society will meet
SALEM - The Columbiana County Genealogical Society will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem Historical Dale Shaffer Library. Members are asked to bring finger foods to share for the annual Christmas get together. Beverages and paper products will be provided. There will be discussions on your brick walls hit during genealogical research. Guests are welcome at meetings. There will be no meetings in January or February due to possible inclement winter weather.
Special Salem school board meeting set
SALEM - The Salem Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the administration building and immediately go into executive session for personnel matters. No action will be taken.
Deadline extended for Entranceway Design Contest
SALEM - The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a contest for artists who can assist the Chamber and the City of Salem with design renditions for new entranceways to the city.
The deadline for artist drawings has been extended to Jan. 31. A $100 honorarium will be awarded and the winner will have their name on a signature plaque. Contest rules and the entry form are available online at www.salemohiochamber.org or by calling 330-337-3473.
