- Firefighters and police responded at 10:05 a.m. Friday to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue for smoke coming from the rear of a residence. A fire had been built up with old wooden type things and a man threw pine branches from a Christmas tree on top of the fire, causing the smoke. He said he would put the fire out, was told about the ordinances for fires and given a warning for illegal burning.

-Firefighters and police were called at 10:17 p.m. Thursday to a residence in the 400 block of East Eighth Street for a report of a bat. Nothing was found.

- A resident in the 400 block of North Ellsworth Avenue called for help at 4:40 p.m. Thursday for a kitten that had fallen in a second-floor heat register. When firefighters arrived, the resident had extricated the kitten.


- The fire department responded to a report of wires hanging down across a driveway at 39069 Brookfield Ave. at 9:18 a.m. Thursday.
