Library hosting adult book discussion group

SALEM - "The Boy in the Suitcase," a book written by Lene Kaaberol and Agnete Friis, will be discussed during Salem Public Library's Adult Book Discussion Group from 7-8 p.m. Dec. 17 in the library's Quaker Room.

In the story Nina Borg is a compulsive do-gooder who can't say no when someone asks for help - even when she knows better. When her estranged friend Karin leaves her a key to a public locker in the Copenhagen train station, Nina gets suckered into her most dangerous project yet. Inside the locker is a suitcase, and inside the suitcase is a 3-year-old boy, naked and drugged, but alive.

Copies of this intriguing book are available in the library's Adult Services Department.

Discussion of the book "The Whip" originally scheduled for Nov. 26 was canceled due to inclement weather. The discussion group has been rescheduled. It will meet at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the library's Quaker Room.

"The Whip" by Karen Kondazian is inspired by the true story of Charlotte "Charley" Parkhurst (1812-1879) who lived most of her life as a man. Charley Parkhurst was one of the finest stage coach drivers Wells Fargo had during the gold rush days. n her fiction debut actress Kondazian imagines the life such a disguise artist might have lived.

Discussion groups are open to the public. Registration is not required. For more information call the library at 330-332-0042.
