Lisbon school board approves coaches

LISBON - The Lisbon school board took care of mostly routine business at this week's meeting.

The board approved the following people as sports team volunteer coaches: Dana Blackburn, swim team; Alison Bell, junior high girls basketball; Jon Beagle, 4-6 grade girls basketball; and Bryan Brownfield, 4-6 grade boys basketball.

The board also hired the following people as head coaches for the upcoming spring sports season: Doug Andric, baseball; Dave Crismon, softball; and Kyle Bing, track.

The following dates were approved for the upcoming activities: graduation, May 25, at the high school gymnasium; junior high Honors-Builders field trip to Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, May 8-10; junior-senior prom, May 2 at Firestone Farms in Columbiana; after prom, May 3 at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky.

Lynn Grove was hired as mathematics intervention tutor at $175 per day, while the board granted intermittent medical leave for the rest of the school year to teacher Jessica Garrod.

The board also accepted the retirement resignation of custodian Deborah Ford, effective Dec. 31, and accepted the resignation of custodian Jeff Keyes due to disability retirement. Keyes had worked at the school system for about 15 years.

The next meeting is 5 p.m. Dec. 10.
