Canfield Mason named district deputy grand master

Russell W. Gillam Jr. of Canfield has been appointed district deputy grand master of the 24th Masonic District at the 204th annual communication of the Free and Accepted Masons on Oct. 19 in Akron.

Gillam, who is serving a second term as master of Argus Lodge in Canfield, is a past presiding officer in Youngstown Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Buechner Council of Royal and Select Masons and St. John's Commandery Knights Templar, for which he has been received as a Knight York Cross of Honor. In the Scottish Rite, he has served as a thrice potent master and most wise master. He is also a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award and holds memberships including the Royal Order of Scotland, Shannon Council, Knight Masons of Ireland, Ohio Lodge of Research, Aut-Mori Grotto, Miriam Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Ruth Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

He and his wife Susan reside in Canfield Township.
