SALEM - Arthur William Speece, 96, of Beloit, died at 10:34 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Speece was born Oct. 3, 1917 in Sistersville, W.Va., the son of the late Hugh Oliver and Nettie (Flinn) Speece.
He was a retired welder for the Boilermakers Union 744 in Cleveland where he had worked for 35 years, He was WWII U.S. Navy veteran.
His wife, Naomi (Henderon) Speece, preceded him in death Feb. 17, 2006. Two daughters, April Speece and Shirley E. Betz also preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Arthur "Bill" (Carol) Speece, II of Salem' two daughters, Linda Speece and Donna Mather, both of Alliance; an adopted daughter, Angel Beach of Beloit; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with the Salem Honor Guard in charge of the service. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will take place Monday at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Beloit.
