Ron and Elaine Wagner will be honored on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary celebration at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 4306 Homeworth Road, Homeworth.
Mr. Wagner's upcoming 80th birthday on Nov. 5 will also be celebrated.
The former Elaine Freshley and Mr. Wagner were married on Sept. 27, 1953, at Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Thomas Holmes.
The couple's four children are, Pam (Larry) Miller of Homeworth, Randy (Melanie) of Willard, Andy(Cathy) of Beloit and Amy (Dave) Lorentz of Louisville. They also have seven grandchildren, Taryn and Logan Miller of Homeworth, Tyler Wagner of New Mexico, Cory Wagner of Willard, Rachel and Chad Gimmi and Brynn Guist of Louisville.
Mr. Wagner is retired from J and L Steel of Louisville. He also worked at Morgan Engineering and American Steel Foundry in Alliance as a pattern maker and machinist. He enjoys golf, bowling, and, along with his wife, attends many sporting events, especially following West Branch athletics, and the Browns, Indians, Mount Union football and Ohio State.
Mrs. Wagner was a homemaker and has been the scorekeeper for both the boys and girls West Branch basketball teams since the early 1980's when her daughter Amy played. She was inducted into the West Branch Hall of Fame in 2011 for her many volunteer hours as scorekeeper.
They have both been active member of Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church since childhood and have always lived in Homeworth.
