William W. Grimm Sr.

LEETONIA - William W. Grimm Sr., 93, of Butcher Road, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana.

Born Sept. 12, 1920, in Mason County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George A. and Virginia (Roush) Grimm.

Mr. Grimm served in the Army during World War II in Central Europe and the Rhineland and received the Silver Star medal. He had been employed as a machinist at the former NRM of Columbiana, retiring in 1986. Prior to that he worked at the former L. W. Nash Company in East Palestine. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Columbiana.

He was preceded in death on Dec. 23, 2010, by his wife, the former Grace Pelley, whom he married Aug. 14, 1948.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Grimm of Leetonia; a son, William W. (Bonnie) Grimm Jr. of Leetonia; a sister, Leoda Folger of Brunswick; two brothers, Homer Grimm of Jonesboro, Ill., and George L. Grimm of Letart, W.Va.; four granddaughters; and five-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. Jan Winnale officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by Benjamin Firestone Post of the American Legion. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.
