SALEM - Dorothy Jean Jewell, 85, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Essex III of Salem, where she had resided since 2006.
Born Dec. 5, 1927, in Beaver Falls, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel and Stella Elizabeth (Laszcz) Ludwig.
She was preceded in death June 3, 1983 by her husband, Bill.
Mrs. Jewell was an active member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church until moving to Ohio. She then joined the First Church of Christ.
Survivors include her three children, Gary William (Audrey) Jewell of Seneca, Pa., Judith Ann Jewell of Hilton, N.Y., and Kalynn (John) Baker of Beaver, Pa.; her brother, John Robert (Carolyn) Ludwig of Deer River, Minn.; her sister, Ruth (Jim) Crawford of Southern Pines, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home (www.oliver-linsley.com), 644 E. Main St., East Palestine, with the service following the conclusion of the calling hours. James Ostick of the First Church of Christ will officiate.
