SALEM - James W. Stewart, 59, of Salem, died at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1954, in Salem, Ohio, son of Vance Stewart and the late Rita (McNicol) Stewart.
Jim was a 1972 Salem High School graduate and had worked on the line at General Motors for 28 years before retiring in 2006. He had detailed cars at James Stewart Detailing and worked part time at Salem Chrysler. He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church.
His wife, Deborah (Barnes) Stewart, whom he married April 20, 1974, survives him along with a daughter, Melissa (Adam) Kress of Wake Forest, N.C.; his father, Vance Stewart; two sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Fisher of Canfield and Barbara (Jeff) Russell of Colorado; a brother, John (Martha) Stewart of Vermont; and two grandchildren, Blake and Karson Kress.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at the St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
A vigil prayer service will follow calling hours. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
