COLUMBIANA -A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church in New Waterford for Kathryn Firestone who died on the day of her 100th birthday, Sept. 15. The Rev. Susan Antolik will officiate.

Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Born Sept. 15, 1913, in Rogers, she was one of five children born to H. Clifford Gorby and Iva (Lyons) Gorby.

Mrs. Firestone moved to East Palestine in 1922 to live with her maternal grandparents, Matthew and Madora Ann Nahar Lyons. She later worked in her father's law office in Columbiana. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. In 2010 she moved to Whispering Pines assisted living facility in Columbiana.

She was preceded in death March 20, 2000, by her husband, Clyde Firestone, whom she married on Oct. 18, 1950.

Among her survivors are her grand nephews and guardians, David and Carol Vollnogle and Jon and Charlotte Vollnogle and their families.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were handled by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana.
