HUBBARD - Charles E. Montgomery, 87, died Tuesday evening Sept. 17, 2013, at Liberty Health Care Center.
He was born July 1, 1926, in East Palestine, Ohio, a son of Charles and Olive Montgomery and moved to Hubbard in 2012 coming from New Philadelphia where he moved in 1992 from East Palestine.
Mr. Montgomery was a machinist for Hunt Valve in Salem for 31 years, retiring in 1991. He was a Seaman First Class serving with the United States Navy. Charles was a member of the Saxon Club in Salem and the Silver Sneakers at Roosevelt Elementary School. He loved sports, following his two sons who are coaches, he played pool, was an avid golfer and softball player, enjoyed swimming at the Hubbard Pool, loved going on casino bus trips and watched every Cleveland Indians game.
His first wife, the Former Helen Ulrich, whom he married in 1946, died in 1991. His second wife, the former Betty Kamben, whom he married in 1992, died in 2011.
He leaves two sons, Chuck L. (Kathy) Montgomery of Hubbard and Randy (Becky) Montgomery of North Canton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home.
Family and friends may call on Friday, one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
