Former Bank One workers to meet for lunch

SALEM Bank One retirees and former employees are invited to lunch at noon Tuesday at Heck's Restaurant in Columbiana.

DAHS?Class of 1960 to meet for lunch

LISBON - David Anderson High School Class of 1960 will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chef's Table in Lisbon.

Goshen HS Class of 1941 to meet for breakfast

SALEM The Goshen High School Class of 1941 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Salem Masons to host public breakfast buffet

SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St.

Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.

Winona Ruritans hosts annual family picnic

WINONA - The Winona Ruritan Club hosted its annual family picnic on Aug. 27 at the Winona Friends Church. During the business session Secretary Lee Stamp called the roll of members and had each introduce his guest. There were 17 members and 11 guests present. Homer Huprich made a motion that the club purchase 24 tickets for $20 from the Ohio District as part of its yearly fund raiser. Chip Althouse seconded. Tom Sanor made a motion to donate $100 to the United Local Scholarship Fund to match last year's donation. Tom Richey seconded the motion. President Homer Althouse asked Tom Sanor to serve as chairman of the 2013 officer and board of directors nominating committee. Althouse also appointed Jason McDevitt to the committee.

R-Weigh support groups honor weekly weight loss

SALEM - The R-Weigh weight support groups met at 1 and 5 p.m. Monday at the First Friends Church. Twenty-one members earned $1 for losing over the holiday. The good loser for the week was Jennifer Walker. Goalies were JoAnne Bogdan, Eleanor Billet and Jo Carol Gray. Judy Catlett and Carol Held received the "lost weight over their birthday" award and Vi Woodall and Bogdan won the can-do monetary drawing. Patty Mills did the program at the day group. Karen Pauline presided at the evening group and Ruth Miller did a program on "Meet the Bible Babes" which are weight losing church group meetings similar to R-Weigh meetings. New members are welcome. Lozier-Steele family holds annual reunion

SALEM The 30th annual Lozier-Steele family reunion was held Sept. 8 at the Hrovatic lake with 20 in attendance. A cookout, coverdish, visiting and hiking were enjoyed. Relatives attended from Salem, Lisbon, Atwater, Akron, Leetonia, Cortland and Alliance. Next year's reunion is Sept. 7 at the same place. For more information contact Patricia Steele Landsberger.

Third Monday dance set at Deerfield Historical Society

DEERFIELD - The Deerfield Historical Society's "third Monday dance" is scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. Refreshments are available for purchase. Admission is $3 per person.
