Sons of Liberty to perform Sunday

CANFIELD - The public is invited to a picnic at noon Aug. 18 at the Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St.
Breakfast buffet planned in North Lima
NORTH LIMA - A breakfast buffet will be open from 7 to 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at the North Lima Mennonite Church. Donations will be accepted for the all-you-can-eat meal which include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms and beverages.
A barbecue chicken dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at the church. The meal includes half a chicken, baked potato, green beans, cole slaw or applesauce, roll, cake, and beverage. Cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 3-10, dine-in or carryout. Proceeds will be given to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley and Mennonite Disaster Service. Rummage sale set at Damascus church
DAMASCUS - The Damascus United Methodist Church will host its 17th annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 23 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at the church, 300 Valley Road.
Shoppers may fill a brown paper bag for $4 on Friday and until noon on Saturday. From noon until closing on Saturday, the cost is $1 per bag. Larger items will be priced separately. Proceeds of the sale will support the missions of the Damascus United Methodist Women. A bake sale and lunch bar will be available.
Donations of clothing and items in good condition are being accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at the church. Exercise equipment and large upholstered furniture will not be accepted.
Pilgrimage set at Shrine of Our Lady
NORTH JACKSON - The 15th annual pilgrimage in honor of Our Sorrowful Mother will be held on Sept. 15 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon on North Lipkey Road. The novena in honor of Saints Cyril and Methodius begins at 2:30 p.m. Anointing of the Sick and the Sacrament of Penance follows. A Slovak Mass will be concelebrated at 3:30 p.m. Father Martin Celuch, pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish of Youngstown, will be the homilist.
This year's pilgrimage celebrates the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Slovakia and the introduction of Christianity to the Slavic people. A dinner follows in Cedar's Hall at the shrine. Men of Faith 'Rally' breakfast set
COLUMBIANA - The Men of Faith "Rally in the Valley 2014" will hold its regular monthly breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. Aug. 17 at Das Dutch Haus, 14895 South Ave. Roberta Dorsey will be sharing the word in song and Michael Ross Jr. will share "Our God Given Destiny." Audrey Wyatt will be the honoree for the day. All canned food contributions will go to Damascus Friends Food Pantry. All men are welcome to join in the fellowship. Big Back Yard program to feature carnival
SALEM - The Salem First Presbyterian Church's Big Back Yard program will feature a backyard carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 14 at the church. A petting zoo, face painting and games will be available. The event is free and open to the community, rain or shine. Pizza and other refreshments will be served.
