SALEM - Kathleen K. Johnson, 68, of Salem, died at 2 a.m., Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boardman with her family by her side.
She was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Salem, the daughter of the late William and Louise (House) Messenger.
She was a 1961 graduate of Salem High School and before her retirement in 2006 had been a press operator and assembler at Ventura Plastics for 37 years. She was a member of the Salem First Friends Church and enjoyed bowling, card club, crocheting blankets and taking care of her grandchildren. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Her husband, J.J. Johnson, whom she married Sept. 5, 1962, survives her along with a son, James William Johnson of Mooresville, N. C.; two daughters, Tammy (Bret) Schrode of Washingtonville and Kimberly Johnson of Salem; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents, two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Pete Fowler officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday prior to the services at the funeral home.
