'Chicken on the Run' dinners sold today

SALEM - "Chicken on the Run" drive-thru chicken dinners will be sold from 4 to 6 p.m. today, until sold out, at the First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave.

The dinner includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

'The Singing Senior Citizen' will perform

GREENFORD - Loren Coler, "The Singing Senior Citizen, will provide entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Smokehouse Restaurant. He sings 50s-style pop, country and gospel music. There is no cover charge.

The restaurant is located in the Bobcat Center in the old South Range Middle School, 7600 W. South Range Road. For information call 330-286-3446.

Salem Eagles presenting "Legends of Music'

SALEM The Salem Eagles Club will present "Legends of Music" on Saturday.

Dottie Reynolds as Patsy Cline will perform at 8 p.m., followed by Ernie Valley as Elvis at 9:30 p.m. Karaoke is slated from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

United Boosters holding drive on Saturday

HANOVERTON - The United Athletic Booster Club will hold its annual membership drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday with student athletes canvassing the community.

Booster membership forms are also available in the school office or by contacting Lisa Bailey at 330-301-6093 or 330-223-4006. A family membership is $10 and individual memberships are $5.

Brendon Whitman benefit is Saturday

SALEM - The public is invited to a spaghetti dinner benefit for Brendon Whitman, 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892, 496 Arch St.

Brendon, son of Bob and Kim Whitman, and grandson of Bonnie Rhodes and Alice Whitman, is one of about 12 people nationwide who have a rare disease called Immune Dysregulation Polyendocrinopathy Enteropathy X-linked. This disease forces Brendon to receive expensive treatments every four weeks. It has attacked his lungs, spleen and brain.

Proceeds from the benefit will be used for a test for Brendon which costs more than $6,000.

The denial of the test by the family's insurer has led to an attempt to raise money to defray the test costs. An account has been set up under the Bonnie Rhodes Benefit Fund for Brendon and she can be reached at 330-752-3700.

'The Singing Senior Citizen' will perform

HOMEWORTH - The Western Columbiana County Historical Society will host its annual open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 and 11 at the museum on Homeworth Road. Local artifacts and information and displays on the one-room school houses and war veterans are available.

Admission is free. Donations are appreciated and all funds are used to maintain the building.

Hannah Mullins graduation is Aug. 8

SALEM - The Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing will hold its 102nd graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Kent State University City Center, 230 N. Lincoln Ave.

Mullins Alumni Association will meet Aug. 5

SALEM - The Hannah E. Mullins Alumni Association will meet for dinner at 6 p.m. Aug. 5 at Ricky's English Pub.

Society's 'first Monday dance' scheduled

DEERFIELD - The Deerfield Historical Society's "first Monday dance" is scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. Food is available for purchase. Admission is $3 per person.

Columbiana High Band hosting show

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana High School Band is hosting the World Class Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corp. on Sunday at the high school. The day begins at 4:30 p.m. with a clinic and ends with a performance at 6 p.m. by the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corp. This event is open to the public Those attending are to bring a chair.

Fairfield-Waterford Class of 1960 will meet

COLUMBIANA - The Fairfield-Waterford High School Class of 1960 plans to meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 6 at the Conkle residence at Guilford Lake.

United HS Class of 1963 will meet for lunch

HANOVERTON - United High School Class of 1963 will meet for lunch at noon Aug. 7 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Salem High Class of 1953 will meet Aug. 9

SALEM The Salem High School Class of 1953 plans to meet for lunch at noon Aug. 9 at the Skyline Diner at the Salem Air Park. Spouses and guests are welcome.

SHS Class of 1963 will meet Aug. 10

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1963 will meet for lunch at noon Aug. 10 at BB Rooners.

'Meet the Quakers' pep rally is Aug. 10

SALEM - Salem athletic teams that have not registered to be a part of the Salem I'Fest's "Meet the Quakers" pep rally are asked to contact Frank Zamarelli at Salem Computer at 330-332-2201.

The rally begins at 4 p.m. Aug. 10 on the main stage at the I'Fest. All players and coaches will be introduced and the Salem High School Pep Band will perform. Teams are also invited to participate in the Salem Grande Parade that follows at 6 p.m. in downtown Salem.
