Breakfast buffet offered at Salem Masons

SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator.

Ghost Walk set Saturday at Spread Eagle

HANOVERTON - A ghost walk begins at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the Spread Eagle Tavern. Cost is $6 for ages 12 and over. For more information and/or reservations call 330-223-1583.

Second Harvest to host picnic Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN - Second Harvest Food Bank will host a Volunteer Appreciation Day from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2805 Salt Springs Road. This all-star themed picnic will honor the volunteers who give their time to help sort and re-box food for distribution and assist with programs such as BackPack and Mobile Pantry.

"We are a volunteer-dependent organization," said Michael Iberis, executive director of the food bank. "We simply could not distribute 40,000 pounds of food each day in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties without their help." Salem 1972 breakfast planned

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1972 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Aug. 3 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club, 12688 Salem-Warren Road.

Weavers Guild spin-in scheduled

COLUMBIANA - Youngstown Area Weavers Guild's annual spin-in of spinning, weaving, basket weaving and other fiber crafts will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at Firestone Park. Jump Start to Kindergarten offered

NORTH LIMA - North Lima Preschool, located at Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Road, is offering a new program called, Jump Start to Kindergarten on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in September. Heartland to host Lion Charity Cruise In

COLUMBIANA - Heartland Christian School will host its first Lion Charity Cruise In from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17, rain or shine. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $10 per automobile entry. Proceeds donated will benefit the Heartland Christian School Athletic Program. Free dash plaques will be given to the first 30 registrants. Beaver Local Athletic Hall inductees named

LISBON - The Beaver Local Athletic Hall of Fame has announced its 2013 inductees: Dean Horger, Adam Hoppel, Sarah (Pilarcik) Lowe, Erin (Reeder) Gallagher, Jenny (Rudibaugh) Pancake and in the Special Category, Everett and Lee Hoppel. Induction ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge. Dinner choices are baked steak and baked chicken breast. No reservations will be taken after this date and tickets will not be sold at the door.

Breastfeeding class set in East Liverpool

EAST LIVERPOOL - A free breastfeeding class will be offered to expecting parents and grandparents at 9 a.m. Aug. 3 in the One Family Place obstetrics department of East Liverpool City Hospital. Registration is recommended by calling 330-386-2013.

The Breastfeeding Support Group will follow the class at 11 a.m. No registration is required for the support group. Every baby is weighed at every support group meeting. Parents can meet other new parents and obtain help with latch and positioning and tips on continued breastfeeding when returning to work or school.

A breastfeeding support group meets the first Saturday of every month at 11 a.m. Education for new mothers, fathers and grandparents is offered at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month. RSVP to the OB department for education by calling 330-386-2013. ELCH also offers breastfeeding assistance for hospital employees and a lactation room is available for employees to pump breastmilk for their newborn when they return to work.
