- The fire department received a burning complaint on state Route 172 past Furnace Road at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday.

- The automated fire alarm went off at the county jail at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday, likely because of an act of vandalism by an inmate.


- Firefighters were called at 11:54 a.m. Wednesday for an alarm at Essex of Salem I on Continental Drive where a faulty smoke detector was found in the second floor dining area. The detector will be repaired or replaced.
