SEBRING- Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring held a 50th anniversary celebration June 27, honoring couples celebrating at least 50 years of marriage and marking the 50th anniversary of the retirement community.
The 80 couples who attended were welcomed by Philip Braisted, Copeland CEO, who honored the couples for their commitment to family life and marriage. The anniversary cake was created by the Food and Nutrition Department and entertainment for the event was provided by Steve Fazzini who sang love songs from the 40's and 50's.
The Rev. William and Nancy Harvey, who celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 27, were awarded the honor of cutting the cake at the celebration. The Harveys, who are the parents of four and grandparents of six, had tears in their eyes as they revisited the cutting of their wedding cake in 1959, more than half century ago. The advice the Harveys would give to newlyweds: “Love for the long term.” (Submitted photo)
