SALINEVILLE - Lawrence H. "Tuffy" Sprouse Jr., 68, of state Route 164, died Wednesday afternoon at his home.

Born April 1, 1945, in Yellow Creek Township in Wellsville, he was the son of the late Lawrence H. Sprouse Sr. and Della Snyder Sprouse.

Mr. Sprouse was a maintenance mechanic for TRW in Minerva then a steel hauler in 1970. He also worked for Anchor Motor Freight and retired from Yellow Freight on Oct. 31, 2007. He attended Grant Hill United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence H. Sprouse III of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Jason A. (Anita) Sprouse of Salineville; four brothers, Melvin (Lila Mae) Sprouse of Hammondsville, Charles Sprouse of Salineville, James (Mary) Sprouse of West Point and Donovan (Carolyn) Sprouse of Howland; a sister, Carol Porter of Columbus, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville with Mike Ingole officiating.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
