County Township Assoc. meeting set

LISBON - The Columbiana County Township Association meeting begins at 7 p.m. July 17 at the First United Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St.

A roast pork dinner will be served, hosted by Elkrun Township. Bob Simeone of Cold Mix Paving will present a program. An update on the county chip and seal program will be given by Bert Dawson and Bob Durbin.

Cost of the dinner is $10 per person. Reservations are needed by July 10 to Corresponding Secretary Tiffany Chetock at 330-424-7319.

Pizza featured at Banquet in Salem

SALEM - Friends of the Banquet will serve pizza from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday during the Banquet in Salem at the Memorial Building. Other items on the menu include salad, peaches and pears, fresh vegetables and fruit, and ice cream sundaes. New sponsors are needed. For more information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

Blood drive planned at Dutch Village Inn

COLUMBIANA - The Dutch Village Inn banquet department is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. July 1 in the front parking lot of the inn at 150 E. state Route 14.

Rummage sale planned at Lisbon church

LISBON A rummage sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 12 and 13 at the Lisbon First United Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St.

Lunch items will be available on Friday, and a bake sale will be held both days.

Youth Search and Rescue Weekend set

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - The fourth annual Youth Search and Rescue Weekend is slated July 13 and 14 at Raccoon State Park in Beaver County, Pa. Male and female youth ages 15 to 17 are invited to the event which is designed to expose young adults to the challenging world of searching for missing persons.

The program is presented by the staff of U.S. SARR Corps Academy training staff. Meals and camping facilities will be provided along with several subjects such as land navigation, wilderness first aid, survival, tracking, search dog handling, communications, crime scene preservation, rope rescue, etc. Cost is $15 per person.

U.S SARR Corps is a tri-state professional volunteer organization with corporate headquarters located in Beaver Falls, Pa., that is "Dedicated to Bringing Home the Missing." For registration call 412-303-5650.

Swim lessons set at Community Center

SALEM - The Salem Community Center will host another session of the American Red Cross Swim Lesson program beginning July 8 and running on Mondays through Thursdays to July 18. Six Learn to Swim levels are available, along with a Mommy and Me level for infants and their parent.

Cost is $70 for non-members and $55 for members. A multiple child discount is available. To sign-up call 330-332-5885.

Backyard Barbecue fund raiser planned

SALEM - Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a Backyard Barbecue fund raiser to benefit future hospital projects. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

The winner will receive a backyard barbecue for 10 people, prepared by the Chef's Table Restaurant at 130 S. Market St., Lisbon. The winner has a choice of the meals delivered to their home, at Chef's Table, or another location.

Each dinner includes a half rack of barbecue ribs, pulled barbecue chicken with buns, a baked potato, cole slaw, ice tea or lemonade.

Tickets may be purchased July 17, 1 8 and 19 in the cafeteria at Salem Community Hospital from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m.; at the hospital's gift shop; and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 and 16 at the Salem Giant Eagle.

The winning ticket will be drawn on Aug. 1.

Prime rib roast set at Shrine Club

NORTH LIMA - The annual prime rib roast will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. July 27 at the Youngstown Shrine Club pavilion, 1735 W. South Range Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Cost is $30 per person. Advance tickets are available from Chairman Bud Lewis at 330-482-9565 or Bill Early at 330-426-9546. Walk-ins will be permitted.

Healthy Steps 5K Run/Walk winners listed

SALEM - Salem Community Hospital's Teen Volunteer Program has announced the winners of its third annual Healthy Steps 5K Run/Walk. The first place winner is John McNicholas of New Waterford, with a time of 24:29; second place winner is Karen Steiger of Alliance, with a time of 24:41; and third place winner is Leslie Ellis of Salem with a time of 25:33. Funds raised through the race will be used to support the Salem Community Hospital Charitable Foundation and Salem Community Center STOMP fitness program.

Free meal offered at Leetonia Church

LEETONIA - A free meal will be served at 6 p.m. July 3 at the Leetonia Mennonite Church. A program follows at 7 p.m. featuring God's Quad.
