LISBON - Karl Dean Berry, 78, of state Route 45, died at 10:16 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Community Hospital from complications of a recent surgery.
Born Jan. 20, 1935, in Lisbon, he was the son of the late James M. Berry Sr. and Flora M. (Pannier) Berry.
Mr. Berry worked as an electrician at the former E.W. Bliss Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1994. In his retirement, he worked for more than 17 years as a funeral assistant at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
He was an active member of the Lisbon First United Methodist Church and served as a member of the U. S. Army during peacetime.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jo Anne (Smith) Berry, whom he married April 14, 1961; a daughter, Kella J. (Gary) Haren of Lisbon; two sons, Steve (Holli) Berry of Dublin, Ohio, and Tom (Patty) Watson of East Liverpool; a brother, Donald L. (Mary) Berry of North Lima; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lisbon First United Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St., with the Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church.
