Salem 1945 lunch set at Salem Hills

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1945 plans to meet for lunch at noon Wednesday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Burgers, hotdogs featured at Banquet

SALEM - The Fourth Thursday Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. June 27 at the Memorial Building. The meal, sponsored by Friends of the Banquet, includes hamburgers, hot dogs, scalloped potatoes, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and ice cream sundaes. Additional sponsors are needed. Crestview buildings panel to meet Friday

Mad Science workshops offered Friday

COLUMBIANA - Seats are still available for the free science workshops offered Friday by Mad Science of Northeast Ohio at the Columbiana Public Library. The workshop on "Dinosaurs" for preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) runs from 11 a.m. to noon. A workshop on "Matter" for students in grades kindergarten to four follows from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Each workshop includes hands-on experimentation to keep children engaged as they learn about science. Pre-registration is required at the library at 332 N. Middle St. or at 330-482-5509.

Deerfield Community Chorus to perform

DEERFIELD - The Deerfield Community Chorus will present its 23rd concert at 2 p.m. July 7 at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. The men's chorus will sing two selections, "Sweet Caroline" and "Blue Velvet." The women's section of the choir will present "I Want to Know What Love is" and "Lollipop." The entire choir will sing "A Civil War Medley" honoring the 150th anniversary. Other selections follow. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, but a free will offering will be accepted.

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1956 will meet for its bi-monthly luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 10 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club. Spouses and friends are welcome.

EP?1974 to join 70s decade reunion

EAST PALESTINE - The East Palestine High School Class of 1974 will hold a reunion in conjunction with the 1970s decade reunion the weekend of Aug.10. Saturday will feature a golf outing in the morning and dinner dance at Antone's Banquet Center in Boardman. Church services at Centenary United Methodist Church will be on Sunday morning followed by brunch at the Roadhouse. The deadline for reservations is July 15. Canfield Community Band schedule set

CANFIELD - The Canfield Community Concert Band will present a series of free outdoor summer concerts to help area residents celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.

Upcoming concerts take place at 7 p.m. July 2 at Austintown Park; at 5:30 p.m. July 4 at Firestone Park in Columbiana; and 7:30 p.m. July 12 at the Mercer County Courthouse Square in Pennsylvania.

Under the direction of Brian Harris, the band will perform a variety of popular songs and marches which reflect a patriotic theme. The program will include "The Fourth of July" by John Cacavas, "Americans We" by Henry Fillmore, and Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A."

In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War's Battle of Gettysburg, the band will play "The Blue and the Gray," a medley of Civil War era songs including "Dixie" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." The concert will also include "John Williams in Concert," and "Yosemite Autumn" by Mark Camphouse. The "Armed Forces Salute" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" will round out the program.
