Former phone workers to meet

SALEM Former AT&T and Ohio Bell Telephone Operators will meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. June 20 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

SHS?'47 to gather

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1947 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. June 21 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club. All classmates and guests are welcome.

Slovak Club dance set

SALEM - The public is invited to a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight June 22 at the Salem Slovak Club.

Music will be provided by The Unknowns featuring classic, rock and country tunes.

Weavers Guild to meet

CANFIELD - Youngstown Area Weavers Guild will meet at 10 a.m. June 12 at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield fairgrounds. A surprise program will be led by Marjorie Preece.

All materials will be supplied. Those attending are asked to bring a lunch and mug, show and tell and sale items. For more information call 330-799-5836 or 330-482-2084.

Park board holds meeting

DAMASCUS - Members of the Damascus Community Center Park Board met May 28 with President Ken Schwingle presiding. Clean-Up Day was held May 4.

Thanks was given to the Damascus Ruritans for their help in the efforts, including retiring of the old flag on June 15 and donation of a new one.

Board members volunteered to check the park weekly to ensure it is ready for rentals and other visitors.

Future summer plans include painting the outdoor pavilions, removing deadwood from trees in picnic and playground areas, and installing a few small playground units.

Pavilion rental for various gatherings is available by calling 330-537-4010.

Masons breakfast slated

SALEM - A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. June 22 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St.

Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2.

The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.

The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
