Salem News

BOARDMAN - The Junior Civic League (JCL) is preparing for its 58th annual Cinderella Ball on Nov. 29 at Mr. Anthony's Banquet Center in Boardman.

The JCL is currently seeking young ladies as debutantes for this elegant affair. Debutante applications will be accepted until July 31.

The young lady must be a high school senior during the 2013-14 year, have a grade point average of at least 2.0, and must be a non-parent. The theme of this year's ball is: "If You Can See It, Then You Can Be It."

The Cinderella Ball is the largest fundraiser for scholarships. Since its inception the JCL has awarded over $510,000 in scholarships for students on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, community involvement, personal qualities, and strengths.

When crowned as Miss Cinderella, the young lady has the choice of receiving a cash prize of $400 or a $2,500 scholarship to the accredited college of her choice.

For additional information and application forms visit or contact Deborah Ferguson, Cinderella Ball chairperson at 330-261-0609 or co-chair Crystal Hawthorne at 330-719-2925.
