New Springfield woman faces multiple drug deception counts

LISBON - A New Springfield woman was served a secret indictment for 16 counts of felony-five deception to obtain a dangerous drug and 12 counts of felony-four deception to obtain a dangerous drug.

According to court documents, Sharon M. Mitchel, 27, Woodworth Road, New Springfield, on several different dates in 2009, 2010 and 2011, utilized deceptive behavior to obtain diazepam, hydrocodone/acetaminophen and oxycodone/acetaminophen. The indictment was issued by the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court grand jury in March.

Chase H. Williams, 23, Eels Street, Rogers, is charged with two counts of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle. According to court documents, Williams allegedly was under the influence of alcohol on Feb. 17 when he had a loaded handgun in the vehicle. The indictment was issued by the grand jury in May.

Samuel D. Carpenter, 35, Mattix Road, Lisbon, is charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony for allegedly having at least five times the bulk amount of oxycodone on July 3, 2012, but less than 50 times the bulk amount. The indictment was issued in May.

Zachariah L. Gordon, 22, Wood Alley, East Liverpool, is charged with burglary, a third-degree felony. Court documents allege Gordon trespassed into the occupied home belonging to a neighbor, Melinda Christy, on April 17. The indictment was issued in May.

Jeffrey S. Dean, 53, Campground Road, Wellsville, was served an indictment for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly having cocaine in his possession last June 24. The indictment was issued in May.
