The Salem Area Safety Council, Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene recently recognized Salem Community Hospital for its efforts in preventing accidents and illnesses in the workplace. SCH was honored with a "Special Award" for its exemplary workplace safety record in 2012. This award is given only to facilities that haven't had an employee injury resulting in a day or more away from work, during the last six months or 500,000 employee hours worked. "Workplace safety is of utmost importance, and the hospital strives to ensure the well-being of our employees, physicians and volunteers through ongoing safety programs, education and training," said Deanna Danner, SCH director of environment of care. "During the time period assessed, our employees logged 1,010,194 hours without an injury that resulted in a day or more of missed work. Maintaining a healthy workforce not only benefits our staff, but in turn the patients and visitors we care for every day." Pictured are Steve Ruwoldt, SCH president/CEO, and Danner.
