By KEVIN HOWELL , Salem News

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP- The township trustees Monday night approved several more personnel changes for the police department.

The trustees accepted the resignation of Cpl. Craig Crider, who took a full-time position with the Salem Police Department, and re-assigned Lt. Mike Golec to part-time after he took a full-time position with the Ohio Police Officers Training Academy (OPOTA).

The trustees also promoted Cpl. Rob Wittensoldner to lieutenant and part-time officer Nicholas Brent to full-time and named him school resource officer and juvenile officer. The trustees also promoted reserve officers Daniel Breen, Troy Mackall and Anthony Pilolli to part-time, effective May 19.

Police Chief Steve McDaniel explained that the recent departure of multiple staff members is due to their being experienced officers getting significant salary increases at other departments.

In other business the trustees tabled discussion of chip and sealing Seacrist Road between state Routes 14 and 165, estimated at $8,753 for single chip and $15,571 for double through the county engineer's office; drainage of Diagonal Road between Middletown and Duck Creek roads, estimated at $49,176; and installation of security cameras at the Administration Building in coordination with the police department, estimated at $2,691.

An appliance and scrap metal drive is scheduled for daylight hours Saturday through May 25 at the township garage and recycling site at 12649 Seacrist Road. Items that can be accepted include refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water softeners, water heaters, microwaves, small appliances and any other scrap metal. Items that cannot be accepted include televisions, radios, VCRs, furniture, tires and PC monitors. For information call 330-205-4204.
