LISBON - In Columbiana County Municipal Court on Tuesday, a May 16 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set for Matthew P. Bailey, 33, Franklin Avenue, Salem, charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, one a felony. Court documents allege Bailey had both a 7-inch straight blade knife in his hoodie and a .38-caliber handgun in his waistband when Salem police stopped him while he was walking on Franklin Avenue toward Lundy Avenue on Monday following up on several reports about Bailey carrying a gun.

Stephen P. Flynn, 43, Bacon Avenue, East Palestine, was fined $1,125, had his license suspended for a year and sentenced to 10 days in jail for OVI second offense and driving under suspension.

Carrie L. Stone, 53, Hisey Road, New Waterford, was fined $575, had her license suspended for 12 months, was sentenced to nine days in jail and required 50 hours community service for OVI second offense and assured clear distance.

Charles Lee Pete Jr., 20, Youngstown, was fined $500, had his license suspended for 180 days and sentenced to 10 days in jail for driving under suspension and drug paraphernalia for a digital scale in his pocket.

Jeffrey Sayer, 18, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, was fined $450, required 40 hours community service and had his license suspended for 180 days for possession of marijuana and underage consumption.

Daniel D. Derrington, 32, state Route 39, Wellsville, was fined $250, sentenced to three days in jail and required 10 hours community service for reckless operation amended from OVI first offense. A tail lights violation was dismissed.

John D. Gbur, 45, South Lincoln Avenue Salem, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and fined $250 for domestic violence for biting and pulling the hair of Kacey Rohaley, the mother of his 3-year-old child.

April D. Mettenberger, 32, state Route 39, Wellsville, was fined $280, sentenced to three days in jail and had her license suspended for 180 days for a seat belt violation and reckless operation amended from OVI first offense.

Brian K. Reynolds, 35, West Fourth Street, Salem, was fined $250 and required 25 hours community service for driving under suspension. A use of an unauthorized plate charge was dismissed.

Joseph E. Hershberger, 41, Butler, Ohio, was fined $150 for commercial speeding.

Kandyce L. Florie, 18, Sue Drive, Lisbon, was fined $75 for unsafe vehicle amended from speeding.

Robert E. Monter, 39, Beechwood Avenue, Alliance, was fined $75 for speeding.

Andrew P. Swetye, 49, East State Street, Salem, was fined $100 for a stop sign and lane violations, but the fines and costs were suspended. Additionally, a resisting arrest charge was dismissed on a motion from the assistant prosecutor.

A May 30 pretrial was set for Eric C. Travis, 31, Crestview Road, Leetonia, cited with driving under suspension.

A June 6 pretrial was set for Michael R. Brown, 21, Carole Drive, Salem, charged with OVI second offense and left of center.

A June 11 pretrial was set for David R. Ash, 39, state Route 213, Irondale, charged with OVI first offense, tail lights and open container.
