Midway Mennonite Church offering meal

COLUMBIANA - The final community meal for the spring season begins at 6 p.m. today at Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

Those attending are to bring their own table service. Monetary donations for the meal will be accepted. For more information call the church office at 330-482-3135.

United Local Athletic Boosters will meet

HANOVERTON - The United Athletic Booster Club plans to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the high school library.

Spring plant sale is Friday, Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN - Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens will hold its spring plant sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Plants include annuals, hanging baskets, herbs, shrubs, perennials, summer bulbs, roses, and fruit plants for the home garden.

Spring blooming bulbs may be ordered for fall pick-up. Staff and master gardeners will be available to assist the public with their gardening needs.

New Waterford 1957 breakfast is Saturday

COLUMBIANA - The New Waterford High School Class of 1957 will meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Das Dutch Haus in Columbiana.

All-you-can-eat breakfast planned

NORTH BENTON - An all-you-can-eat community breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the North Benton Presbyterian Church in North Benton. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for ages 6 to 12.

Letter Carriers' food drive is Saturday

SALEM - Saturday marks the 21st anniversary of the "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive" sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Residents wishing to participate are asked to leave a nonperishable food donation in a bag by their mailbox on Saturday. Their letter carrier will pick it up to be distributed to a local food bank or pantry.

Among the items to be donated include canned meats, fish, soup, juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice. Do not include items that have expired or are in glass jars.

Eagles Club serving Mother's Day breakfast

SALEM - A Mother's Day breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave.

The menu offers eggs, sausage, homefries or haystacks. Cost is $5, and free for mothers.

A dance follows from 9 p.m. to midnight. Music will be provided by Moon Riders. The kitchen will be open from 8 to 10 p.m.

Spring concert is Friday at United Local

HANOVERTON - The Vocal Music Department will present a spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday in the United Local High School auditorium. Performing will be Mixed Chorus, Concert Choir, Flight Show Choir and the Alumni Choir under the direction of Marion Izak.

The junior high concert begins at 7 p.m. Monday featuring the seventh grade choir, eighth grade choir, eighth grade show choir Touch of Gold and the eighth grade girls ensemble that received a superior rating at the recent OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest. Both concerts are free to the public. Donations will be accepted. Groups are directed by Cindy Neiswanger.

Steak fry set at Sebring American Legion

SEBRING - Sebring American Legion will hold its monthly steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Porterhouse, strip and ribeye steaks are offered, along with a baked potato, salad bar and coffee. Carryouts are available. Three impersonators singing the songs of Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Elvis will entertain at 7:30 p.m.

Damascus Ruritans hosting Health Mission

DAMASCUS - Damascus Ruritan Club will host a Health Mission topic on knee and hip replacement and arthritis at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Damascus Friends Church. The public is invited, free of charge. Refreshments will be served.

Adult programs offered at MCCTC

CANFIELD - Adults interested in enrolling career certification programs this fall offered at the Adult Career Center Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are invited to attend one of several free informational sessions.

Sessions are free to attend and include career investigation as well as reading, math and language assessments.

Visitors will also tour the building, meet instructors and learn about financial aid opportunities. Sessions will be held at 6 p.m. May 14, June 5, June 18 and July 9 at the Adult Career Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road. For more information or to register call 330-729-4100.

Telephone Operators will meet May 16

SALEM - Ohio Bell-AT&T Telephone Operators are invited to breakfast at 8:30 a.m. May 16 at Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

'Drive-by chicken dinners' will be sold

LEETONIA - "Drive-by chicken dinners" will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. May 16, or until sold out, at Leetonia First United Methodist Church, 50 Lisbon St. Cost is $7.

Dinners will include a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Proceeds will benefit the foyer fund.

Survivors of Suicide group will meet

LISBON - Help Hotline Crisis Center's support group of the Survivors of Suicide will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 16 at the Columbiana County Counseling Center on Route 154. For more information call 330-747-2696.

First United Methodist plans rummage sale

SALEM - A rummage sale will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave.

The public is invited from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17, and 9 a.m. to noon May 18.

Allegheny Wesleyan College service set

SALEM - The baccalaureate service for the 2013 graduates of Allegheny Wesleyan College begins at 7 p.m. May 19 in the College Chapel. Commencement exercises follow at 7 p.m. May 24 in the College Chapel.

The Keelings will perform May 19

EAST PALESTINE - Centenary United Methodist Church at 40 S. Market St. will host the popular Southern gospel group, The Keelings, at 7 p.m. May 19.

The event, which will be held in the church sanctuary, is open to the public. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item that will be donated to a local food bank. For additional information call the church office at 330-426-2629.

Free holistic health seminar scheduled

BOARDMAN - Dr. Noah Erickson, chiropractic physician, will host a free holistic health seminar at 6:30 p.m. May 21 in the community room at the Davis Family YMCA on McClurg Road.

Driving school class offered at United Local

HANOVERTON - Auto Club Driving School is offering a class at United Local High School from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. starting June 10.

Relay for Life Golf Scramble is Saturday

SALEM - Openings remain for the second annual Relay for Life Golf Scramble in honor of Janie Mowery which will be held Saturday at the Flying "B" Golf Course.

It is held in memory of the longtime Salem schools teacher who passed away in January 2012.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 8 a.m. Cost is $60 person. The fee includes greens fee, cart, hole prizes, beverage tickets, a sandwich at the turn and lunch.

Family Video rewarding As on report cards

SALEM - Family Video in Salem is again offering its Report Card "A" program.

Students may present report cards to the Family Video store, 120 N. Lincoln Ave. For each final "A" or equivalent mark earned by students in core courses from kindergarten through college, Family Video will reward students with a free movie or game rental.

Core courses include math, language, reading, history, geography, science and spelling classes. Each voucher can be renewed for any new release movie with a "split' sticker on it and all video games.

The free rental is available through June 30. The Report Card "A" program is a 30-year tradition at Family Video and not affiliated with any particular school or school district.

Beginning today, Family Video in Salem is presenting Teacher Thursdays.

During each Thursday in May, teachers may present a school ID and rent any five-night new release and get a second five-night new release for free.

South Range BOE will meet Friday

BEAVER TOWNSHIP- The South Range Local school board will meet in special session at 7 a.m. Friday in the high school conference room to consider employment of personnel.

Cub Scout Day Camp is June 17-21

LISBON - The Buckeye Council Sandy Beaver District annual Cub Scout Day Camp will be held June 17-21 at Camp McKinley in Lisbon.
