SALEM- William (Bill) Allen Leyman died at home on Friday surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born June 3, 1945, in Salem, a son of the late Henry Glen and Lydia (Muller) Leyman. Bill resided in Salem all of his life.
He attended Western Reserve High School and served in the Army from 1962 through 1965 where he was a paratrooper, a medical specialist and decorated as a sharp shooter of the M-14 rifle. Bill was a welder for over 45 years, retiring from Moore Specialty in Salem in 2007.
Bill enjoyed woodworking, gardening and, as he called it, "just tinkering around."
He is survived by the love of his life for over 40 years, Rebecca (Gorby) Leyman, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1972; his loving children, Angela (Eric) Rayl of Negley and Matthew (Dorothy) Leyman of Salem; his wonderful grandchildren, Lindsey (Jason) Fitzgerald, Lexsey Bieber and Gabriel Leyman; and one great-granddaughter, Dezerae Fitzgerald.
Bill is also survived by four brothers and eight sisters, Richard Leyman of California, Patricia Apostolos of Mansfield, Daisy Berlechick of Hawaii, Mildred Reese of Salem, Connie Davey and Linda Soccorsey of Mineral Ridge, Twila Wiemer of Youngstown, Mark Leyman of Lake Milton, Phillip Leyman of Boardman, Paul Leyman of Columbus, Darlene Martino of Florida and Deborah Leyman of Youngstown. He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Dorothy Gorby of Salem, and several very special brother- and sister-in-laws.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Daniel and Theodore Leyman.
As per Bill's wishes there will be no services held.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services.
