Columbiana Girl Scouts build birdhouses

May 5, 2013
Salem News

Members of the Daisy Girl Scout Troop #80777, with eight girls from Columbiana, participated in building and decorating earth-friendly birdhouses at their April meeting. They learned about reducing, reusing and recycling over the past couple of months through their Journey and Guide Books and have earned all the petals of their Daisy Flower Badge set. Their final project in the series of tasks is the birdhouses which are made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled newsprint. The birdhouses will be on display this month at Springtime in Columbiana for the birdhouse decorating contest being hosted by the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau. Girls going into second grade in fall 2013 may contact Crystal Siembida Boggs, troop leader, to sign up for Girl Scouting at 330-482-9105.
