SALEM - Shirley Elaine Beeler, 86, of Salem passed away on April 30, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.
She was born in Salem, on March 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles B. and Lena (Maple) Mangus.
She was a 1945 graduate of Salem High School and worked as a switchboard operator for Ohio Bell, as well as at Kresge's, the Fiesta Shop and Fisher's Big Wheel. She was a member of the Salem First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and was a past Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Don Beeler; two daughters, Karen Ruth Izenour and Linda Louise Beeler, both of Salem; three grandchildren, Don (Marla) Weber of Chillicothe, Ohio, Gary (Debbie) Weber of Salem and Matthew Weber of Union, S.C.; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Valent and Geraldine Mangus.
Per her request, Shirley's wishes included cremation with a memorial service to follow at a later date.
