SALEM - Thomas Alan Lantz, 62, of Salem, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1951, in Salem, son of the late Richard James and Esther (Miller) Lantz.
Tom was a 1969 graduate of Salem High School. Before his retirement in February of 2011, he had been a signalman with Norfolk Southern Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of the Salem V.F.W. Post 892, Salem Independent Hose Club, Salem Elks Lodge 305 and was an avid golfer, Cleveland sports fan and loved baseball.
His wife, Barbara L. (Fraundofer) Lantz, whom he married Oct. 10, 1979, survives him along with two sons, Toby Alan Lantz of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Michael Thomas Lantz of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Erin Green of Virginia and Erika McGowan of Georgia; a sister, Lorie (David) Staley of Lisbon; and two brothers, James R. (fiancee, Patricia Garick) Lantz of Salem and John R. (Carol) Lantz of Salem; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
