Leetonia 1949 lunch set at Salem Hills

LEETONIA - The Leetonia High School Class of 1949 plans to meet for lunch at noon Wednesday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Day of Prayer marked at noon Thursday

SALEM - The seventh annual National Day of Prayer Gathering begins at noon Thursday on the Village Green at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce building. This year's theme is "Pray for America." The program will last approximately 45 to 50 minutes and includes a proclamation for the city of Salem, flag presentations and a pledge, music, scriptures and prayers.

St. Paul LCBA meeting set Thursday

SALEM - The Loyal Christian Benefit Association meeting begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul School gym. Card party results will be discussed and the Spring Fling ticket will be drawn from the members present.

Fish fry planned at Columbiana Legion

COLUMBIANA - An all-you-can-eat fish fry will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 290. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children.

Reservation deadline for Crestview banquet

COLUMBIANA - Friday is the reservation deadline for the Crestview Local Alumni Association's banquet. The banquet is slated May 18 at the Crestview Local Performing Arts Center. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for registration, socializing and tours of facility. Banquet activities commence at 5 p.m. Activities include induction of the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2013 alumni scholarship recipients, presentations, and the annual alumni membership meeting.

Breakfast set at Salem Hunting Club Saturday

SALEM - The Salem Hunting Club at 549 Indiana Ave. is serving an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to11 a.m. Saturday. The menu offers eggs, pancakes, potatoes, bacon, toast and beverages.

Dance planned at Salem Eagles Saturday

SALEM - A dance will be held on Saturday at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Music will be provided by The DTs from 9 p.m. to midnight. The kitchen will be open from 8 to 10 p.m.

St. Paul Spring Fling tickets available

SALEM - Tickets are still available for the St. Paul Home and School's Spring Fling, "Night of a Thousand Chances," featuring casino games, prize baskets, an iPad auction, and reverse raffle with a final grand prize of $500 on Saturday at St. Paul School. A full buffet dinner will be provided by Evan's Catering and Planning for ages 21 and over. Cost is $35 per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Each ticket includes entry into the event, appetizers, dinner, dessert, soft drinks, one reverse raffle entry, casino cash to start the night, and five tickets for the prize basket raffle.

Cinco de Mayo party set at Salem VFW

SALEM - A Cinco de Mayo party will be held on Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892, 496 Arch St. The kitchen will be open serving Mexican food specials from 5 to 8 p.m. Drink specials begin at 6 p.m. Music by "Damaged Goods" follows from 9 p.m. to midnight. The public is welcome.

Breakfast buffet planned at Sebring Legion

SEBRING - An all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, a benefit for the Sebring High School girls fast pitch softball team, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the American Legion on California Avenue. Cost is $7 which includes coffee and juice.

Concert offered by Dulci-More May 7

SALEM - The Ed Trickett with Cathy Barton and Dave Para concert, presented by Dulci-More, begins at 7 p.m. May 7 in the meeting room at the Dale Shaffer Research Library, 239 S. Program offered at Genealogical Society meeting

SALEM - Wellsville native Steven Clark will present a program "Rags to Riches: William Chapman Ralston" at the Columbiana County Genealogical Society meeting at 7 p.m. May 8 at the Salem Historical Society's meeting room in the Dale Shaffer Library on South Lundy

Avenue. Ralston was born and raised in Wellsville in the 1800s and ended in California's Gold Rush with an untimely tragic ending. The program is free and open to the public.

Hospital Auxiliary's annual luncheon planned

SALEM - Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary's annual luncheon begins at noon May 9 at the Salem Golf Club. Entertainment will be provided by Kristen Hamner.

Drive-thru chicken dinner set in North Lima

NORTH LIMA - The Calvary United Methodist Church will hold its monthly drive-thru chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. May 9, or until sold out. The meal includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $6. The church is located at 12062 South Avenue Extension.

Leetonia/Salem Twp. Historical Society to meet

LEETONIA - The Leetonia/Salem Township Historical Society's meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. May 9 in the Leetonia Community Public Library meeting room. Attorney Tim Brooks will present "History of the Ohio National Guard and Upcoming Recreation of Morgan's Raiders."

Rabies clinic offered at Hanoverton fire station

HANOVERTON - The Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual rabies clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at the Hanoverton Station on Second Street. Cost is $8 per shot.

'Heart of Gold' raffle to aid Heart Association

SALEM - Salem Community Hospital's HeartWalk team will sponsor the "Heart of Gold" raffle during May. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased by calling Reva Kugler at 330-332-7200 or Karen Royea at 330-332-7771. The winners will be drawn on May 31, for cash prizes of $25, $50 or $100. All proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association.
