SALEM - A free food giveaway will be held from 10 a.m. to noon today at Bethesda Life Church, 357 N. Howard Ave. Those attending are asked to bring extra bags for packing items.

NEW GARDEN - A rummage sale continues from 9 a.m. to noon today at the New Garden Church on Route 9. There will be a bake sale and lunch available featuring homemade soups and pies, sandwiches, pop and coffee.

NORTH LIMA - An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet available from 7 to 10 a.m. today at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. Donations will be accepted. Items on the buffet will include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice, and other beverages. SALEM - The seventh annual National Day of Prayer Gathering begins at noon May 2 on the Village Green at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce building. This year's theme is "Pray for America." The program will last approximately 45 to 50 minutes and includes a proclamation for the city of Salem, flag presentations and a pledge, musical selections - but most of all scriptures and prayers (by clergy and laypersons) for government, military, media, business, education, church, and family.

SALEM - A gospel sing begins at 6:30 p.m. May 3 at Bethesda Life Church, 357 N. Howard Ave. Glorybound of Negley will perform and refreshments will be served. Pastor Larry Levine will pray for the sick. For information call 330-870-6851 or Pastor Levine at 330-831-8807.

WINONA - The Winona United Methodist Church's annual rummage and perennials sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. to noon May 4 at Hall Park on Whinnery Road. Items available include furniture, collectibles, clothes, crafts, housewares, holiday items and perennials. Saturday is "half price day."

NORTH LIMA - Vacation Bible school for ages 3 to 12 will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 15 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 185 W. South Range Road. Lunch will be provided; no nursery. For more information call 330-734-7657 or 330-549-0406.

NORTH LIMA - The annual spring rummage sale at Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Road, is slated next month. The public is invited from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 2 featuring a bake sale; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 which is half-price day; and 9 a.m. to noon May 4 which is $1 per bag day. Lunch will be served on Thursday and Friday. The sale offers clothing, household items, furniture, plants, collectibles, books, toys, etc.

NORTH LIMA - The Dixie Melody Boys will be in concert at 7 p.m. May 4 at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. Voted the favorite male quartet of 2012, the Dixie Melody Boys continue to be a fan favorite after more than five decades on the road. The concert is not a ticketed event but is being made available for a generous free-will offering. For information call the church at 330-549-2333.

NEW WATERFORD Abundant Life Fellowship at 46469 state Route 46 will host a regional Rally in the Valley meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 29. The meeting is open to all area men interested in praying, worshipping, volunteering or just participating in the upcoming rally on May 4 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown. SALEM - The Columbiana County Democrats will sponsor the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. The menu offers chicken noodle soup, meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, applesauce and sundaes. Additional sponsors are needed. For information call Patty Colian at 330-831-2169.

COLUMBIANA - The Nimble Finger Ladies of the First Christian Church at 39 Cherry St. will host a quilt show, in connection with Columbiana's Springtime in the Village, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 and10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4. Admission is free.

Approximately 80 plus quilts will be on display and featuring Pat Mansfield's Bible Block Quilt which won "Best of Show" at the Canfield Fair in 2012.

WINONA - The Winona Friends Church on Whinnery Road will serve a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. May 4 in its Family Life Center. The meal includes mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and dessert. Cost is $8. Carryouts are available. For information call 330-222-0200.

YOUNGSTOWN -The Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will sponsor two wedding anniversary celebrations to honor couples who are observing their 25th, 40th, 50th or over anniversaries in 2013.

The first celebration of the year begins at 2 p.m. June 2 in St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown. Couples planning to attend the June celebration should register at their parish by May 10. The second celebration starts at 2 p.m. Oct. 20 at St. John the Baptist Parish, Canton. Registrations will be accepted in August and September for this event. Both celebrations will include Mass celebrated by Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, renewal of marriage vows, a personalized certificate for each couple, an opportunity to greet Bishop Murry, and a reception for the couples and their families.
