Fundraiser dinner is Saturday at Crestview

COLUMBIANA - ?A benefit pasta dinner and concert at Crestview High School's Performing Arts Center will be held from noon-4 p.m. Saturday.

All dinner donation proceeds to benefit the Pelino and Raneri families. Carryouts will also be available. There will be performances throughout the day by the Performing Arts Department.

United Soccer Fun Day Kickoff is May 11

WINONA - The United Soccer Association and the United High School girls and boys soccer teams are presenting United Soccer Fun Day Kickoff from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 11 at the Clewell's Landing soccer fields.

There will be instruction, scrimmaging and a soccer penalty shootout competition. Cost is $15.

Kids ages 4 and up are welcome to attend. Open to all schools. Deadline registration is April 29.

Fairfield Ruritans Club will meet Thursday

COLUMBIANA - The Fairfield Township Ruritan Club is inviting the public to meet new city manager Lance Willard during its regular dinner meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Heck's Restaurant.

Cost is $10 per guest and includes salad, entree, drink and dessert. The meeting will adjourn at 8:30 p.m.

Wildlife Education Center Opening May 4-5

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, 12798 Echo Dell Road, will be opening its doors to the public for the 2013 season on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday May 5 from 1-5 p.m. each day.

The center will be will be open every Saturday and Sunday through the first weekend of October.

Visitors will enjoy the new bird viewing displays, the newly-built rain garden and many animal displays.

Rock n Roll Night is Friday at Leetonia HS

LEETONIA - Lifeline of Columbiana County Pregnancy Center will present Rock n Roll Night from 7-10 p.m. Friday at Leetonia High School.

Admission is $5 single, $8 per couple with children 16 and under admitted free with an adult. There will music, a Chinese auction, food and a 50/50 raffle.

Rabies clinic scheduled May 11

EAST LIVERPOOL - A rabies clinic will be held from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Tri-State Coon Hunter and Sportsman Club.

The Joshua Project hosting fundraiser

WELLSVILLE - The Joshua Project will host a donations-only spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Wellsville First Christian Church.

Music will be provided by local artists. The Joshua Project is a local, non-profit organization, helping those in need. Anyone wanting to donate a dessert may call 330-532-9014.

Library exhibit highlights Salem history

SALEM - An exhibit featuring Century Homes and other Salem structures will be on display May 1-31 on the ground floor of the Salem Public Library.

Hours are 9 a.m.-8;30 p.m. Mondays-through-Thursdays, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 1-5 p.m. Sundays.

The display is sponsored by the Salem Preservation Society.

'Researching Your Structure' will be held

SALEM -The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce's free "Researching Your Structure"?panel presentation will be h eld at 7 p.m. May 2.

It will feature representatives from the Salem Historical Society and Salem Design Review Board discussing deeds, wills, maps, reference books, directories, and how to follow unusual leads to discover your home or building's history.

The panel is sponsored by Salem Preservation Society.

First Baptist Church sponsoring Banquet

SALEM - The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Memorial Building.

The sponsor is the First Baptist Church.

The menu offers tomato soup, ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cupcakes. Additional sponsors are needed.

New Garden Church hosting sale Saturday

NEW GARDEN - A rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26 and 9 a.m. to noon April 27 at the New Garden Church on Route 9.

There will be a bake sale and lunch available featuring homemade soups and pies, sandwiches, pop and coffee.

Chicken pot pie supper will be served

GREENFORD - The annual chicken pot pie supper will be served Saturday at the Greenford Lutheran Church.

Seating times are 4:30 and 6 p.m.

The meal includes chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, applesauce, pie or cake and a beverage. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4 for ages 3 to 11.

Carryouts are available from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the church office from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday at 330-533-5324. Walk-ins are welcome upon availability.

The church is located at the corner of Route 165 and Lisbon Road.

Quota International offering scholarship

SALEM - Quota International of Salem is once again offering a $500 one-time scholarship.

In keeping with Quota's major service emphasis, "aid to the hearing and speech handicapped: an applicant is required to be enrolled, or enrolling, in an accredited college or university, majoring in audiology, speech pathology or deaf education.

The applicant must reside in, and be a graduating or graduated senior, in one of the following school districts: Salem, Lisbon, Leetonia, United Local West Branch, Columbiana, Sebring, or South Range.

The deadline for mailing applications and two faculty reference letters is May 1.

Selection by the Awards Committee will be based on the applicant's academic proficiency citizenship, leadership, public service, character, and financial need.
