Amaranth spaghetti dinner fund raiser set at Masons
SALEM - The public is invited to the Amaranth spaghetti dinner fund raiser from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Masonic Temple, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under.
Also planned is a public breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10 a.m. April 27. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
West Branch Board of
Education to meet Monday
BELOIT - The West Branch Board of Education's special meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the high school library. Members will review the district's current finances and consider and act upon additional revenue options, and discuss and act upon routine personnel matters.
Salem 1967 dinner planned
SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1967 plans to meet for its monthly dinner/social at 6 p.m. May 16 at Ricky's English Pub.
United Wall honorees
to be inducted May 25
HANOVERTON - The United Wall of Fame Committee has announced its 2013 induction class. The 17th class of honorees will be inducted on May 25. Inductees are: Mark Drotleff, Robert Hall Jr., Josh McArthur, Jeff Roach, Paul Taylor and Chad Wood.
Drotleff, Hall and McArthur are being inducted in the Academic /Career Accomplishment category. Taylor is being recognized in the Outstanding Service category. Roach and Wood are being inducted in the Athletic Accomplishment category.
The catered induction dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. May 25 in the high school cafeteria . Cost is $25 per person. Reservations must be made by May 15. Payment is also due in advance and should be sent to Lynn Altenhof, 28503 state Route 172, Kensington 44427. Checks should be payable to United Wall of Fame. Quota International of Salem offers $500 scholarship
SALEM - Quota International of Salem is once again offering a $500 one-time scholarship. In keeping with Quota's major service emphasis, "aid to the hearing and speech handicapped: an applicant is required to be enrolled, or enrolling, in an accredited college or university, majoring in audiology, speech pathology or deaf education. The applicant must reside in, and be a graduating or graduated senior, in one of the following school districts: Salem, Lisbon, Leetonia, United Local West Branch, Columbiana, Sebring, or South Range. The deadline for mailing applications and two faculty reference letters is May 1.
Selection by the Awards Committee will be based on the applicant's academic proficiency citizenship, leadership, public service, character, and financial need. West point Lions to host
rabies clinic in Lisbon
WEST POINT - The West Point Lions Club's next service project is a rabies clinic to be held from noon to 4 p.m. April 27 at the Mundy Tree Farm on state Route 45 in Lisbon. Rabies shots are $8 each.
World Book Night 2013 to be marked at Leetonia Library
LEETONIA - The Leetonia Community Public Library is participating in World Book Night 2013 on Tuesday when books will be given away at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry of St. Patrick Church. Only residents of the Leetonia School District who are signed up to get their monthly food supply will be able to pick up a copy of these books: "The Phantom Tollbooth," "Middle School The Worst Years of My Life" and "Salvage Bones."
